Legal Voice

Legal Voice

We believe that all women and LGBTQ people should be able to live their lives with dignity, safety, and autonomy. To this end, we work in the Northwest’s courtrooms, legislatures, and communities, creating and enforcing strong, equitable laws and empowering people to know their rights.

Our Values

We are guided by these values:

Progressive Change: We value meaningful, strategic advances in law and policy that promote women’s rights and social justice.

Respect for People of All Genders: We understand that gender is not binary, and that all women, transgender people, and gender non-conforming people are entitled to live with dignity and to be treated with respect. We fight for their rights and equality.

Creativity: We value the ability and agility to attack injustice using diverse approaches and strategies.

Courage: We value and honor the risks our clients take when they defend and assert their rights; we are fierce and bold advocates alongside them.

Partnership: We value collaboration, and recognize that respectful partnership with Northwest communities and national allies is essential to achieving our vision.

Inclusion: We recognize that the legal system has harmed people who are marginalized by race, class, immigration status, gender identity, sexual orientation, youth, and other statuses. We strive to ensure that the people most affected by injustices have a voice finding the solutions.

Respect in the Workplace: We value the individuals in our workplace, and honor their commitment to social justice work as well as to their personal lives and families. We strive to make our workplace inclusive, supportive, and reflective of the social change we seek.

What We Do

When laws or systems oppress women and LGBTQ people, we start the hard work of tearing them down—one policy and one lawsuit at a time. Together, we move from injustice to equality.
